Peter White to chair aggregator’s advisory board

Former managing director of the Finance Brokers Association of Australia, Peter White AM, has been appointed as chairman of an aggregator’s advisory board.

White, who worked with the Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA) for over 25 years, will join asset finance aggregator Optimise Aggregation as the chairman of its advisory board.

The appointment follows Optimise’s establishment of its advisory board earlier this year, alongside industry leaders Chris Slater and Peter Hagias.

Having launched in 2022 under its parent company, the Savvy Group, Optimise is believed to have around 400 brokers operating under it.

A distinguished career

White stepped down as managing director in February 2026 of the FBAA following over two decades with the industry body.

White’s 45-year career began in the branches of CBA on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, eventually leading him to pivotal roles as a founder of the RAMS branch network and the first CEO of Wizard Home Loans.

Since joining the FBAA as a volunteer in 2003, White held almost every major title within the organisation, including national president and CEO.

Over his tenure, White was particularly vocal in defending broker commissions, advocating fairer levies and regulatory burdens, hitting back against clawbacks, and elevating professional standards and mental health.

This dedication to service earned him an Order of Australia (AM) in 2019, recognising his outstanding achievement and merit in services to the finance sector for over 41 years.

Bill Tsouvalas, founder and director of Optimise Aggregation, said White’s experience would make him an important addition to the business.

“Peter has spent decades representing brokers and helping shape the finance broking industry in Australia, so having someone with his experience chair our Advisory Board is incredibly valuable to us,” Tsouvalas said.

“Optimise has grown rapidly, but we are very conscious that as the business becomes larger, we need to continue strengthening the foundations around it. That means having the right governance, the right people around the table and, importantly, people who understand brokers and the industry we operate in.

“Peter brings an enormous amount of industry knowledge, relationships and experience, but what I particularly value is his understanding of the broker. We are building Optimise around helping brokers build better and more valuable businesses, and Peter has spent much of his career advocating for exactly that part of the industry.

“We have significant ambitions for Optimise over the coming years, and having Peter as Chairman alongside Chris Slater and Peter Hagias gives us an Advisory Board with a tremendous amount of experience to help guide that next stage.”

Optimise continues to grow

White said that one of the reasons for his joining was the “energy and ambition” in the aggregation.

“The aggregation market continues to evolve, and brokers increasingly expect more from their aggregator than simply access to lenders. Technology, business support, compliance, education and the ability to help brokers grow sustainable businesses are all becoming increasingly important,” White said.

“Optimise has made significant investment across these areas and has built strong momentum in the asset finance market. I’m looking forward to working with Bill, the leadership team and my fellow Advisory Board members as the business enters its next stage of growth.”

Optimise said it has experienced a strong trajectory of growth in recent years, with significant investments in its broker proposition and its proprietary AFOS technology program, which give brokers an end-to-end platform for asset finance, incorporating lender comparison and servicing tools, compliance processes, workflow automation, customer and referral functionality, and business management capabilities.

“We don’t see growth as simply adding more brokers. The objective is to keep improving what we can deliver to each broker within the network,” he said.

“We want Optimise to be a business that continues to challenge what an asset finance aggregator should provide. Peter joining us as Chairman is another important step in building the experience and structure around the business to support that ambition.”
