Suncorp appoints new non-executive director

Suncorp has bolstered it board through the appointment of a new non-executive director.

Caroline Clarke will join the board on 2 November 2026, subject to the completion of all required regulatory approvals.

Clarke brings more than 30 years of domestic and international experience across large, regulated consumer businesses, including FMCG, personal care and healthcare.

She currently serves as a non-executive director of ASX-listed Cochlear, where she contributes to governance, strategy and risk oversight. She is also a member of the company’s People and Culture Committee and Product and Services Innovation Committee.

Clarke spent almost two decades at Philips Healthcare, including as CEO and executive vice president of its ASEAN Pacific operations, where she was responsible for the strategy, growth and performance of its global Consumer and Healthcare businesses across 14 countries.

Suncorp chair Duncan West said Clarke’s experience in consumer behaviour, marketing, product innovation and digital transformation would support the group’s strategic direction.

“Caroline’s strong consumer focus and track record of applying contemporary data-driven market insights to drive commercial performance and transformation in regulated, service-led and complex stakeholder environments is highly relevant to Suncorp’s strategic ambition,” West said.

Clarke’s appointment comes as long-standing directors Sally Herman and Simon Machell prepare to retire from the board later this year.

West added: “With longstanding directors Sally Herman and Simon Machell retiring from Suncorp’s board this year, Caroline’s appointment is an important part of our ongoing board renewal, ensuring we have the appropriate mix of expertise, skills and diversity to achieve Suncorp’s strategy.”

ANZ migration begins

Clarke’s appointment comes as Suncorp continues to prepare for the migration of its banking products, services and digital platforms to ANZ by June 2027.

As reported by Broker Daily’s sister publication, The Adviser, Suncorp Bank has begun informing its 1.2 million customers, brokers and aggregators of the transition, which will see the Suncorp Bank brand gradually retired.

The bank said customers would continue to be supported by existing Suncorp teams throughout the process, while gaining access to ANZ’s national network of branches and banking specialists, as well as its anti-fraud technology.

The announcement did not detail any immediate changes to broker accreditation, lending policies, product pricing, commission arrangements, lodgement systems or aggregator agreements.
