Bluestone appoints new state manager for NSW/ACT

Bluestone Home Loans has appointed a new state manager for NSW and the ACT.

Lina Gray, who was previously state relationship manager for NSW and ACT with Money Quest and has more than 20 years’ experience across lending, aggregation, and relationship management, will now lead Bluestone’s business development team across the regions.

The specialist lender said Gray’s appointment was part of its focus on local leadership and broker support across NSW and ACT, and she will bolster support for customers who fall outside traditional lending criteria.

Speaking about the appointment, Bluestone Home Loans chief commercial officer Tony MacRae said: “Great outcomes start with great broker relationships. Lina brings a wealth of experience, strong industry connections and a genuine passion for helping brokers find solutions for customers whose circumstances don’t always fit the traditional lending mould.

“Her appointment strengthens our support across NSW and ACT and reflects our continued investment in providing brokers with the expertise, service and accessibility they can rely on every day.”

Gray said she was looking forward to supporting brokers across the region.

“I’ve always believed the best broker relationships are built on trust, consistency and finding ways to help when things aren’t straightforward. I joined Bluestone because what the business stands for genuinely aligns with what I believe in,” she said.

“There are customers who don’t fit neatly into a traditional lending box, and they deserve someone willing to understand their story and help find a way forward.

“I’ve spent 20 years building relationships across lending and aggregation, and I know that when brokers trust you with their customers, that trust has to be earned every day. I’m bringing that customer-first mindset, my broker relationships and my experience leading high-performing teams to Bluestone, and I’m incredibly excited about what we can build across NSW.”

Untapped opportunities

Broker Daily sat down with some of Bluestone’s executive team last month to discuss how the federal budget had created an increasingly challenging operating environment, but also new opportunities.

In the discussion, Bluestone urged brokers to find fresh opportunities, such as the potential for refinancing and commercial SMSF following the ban on limited recourse borrowing arrangements (LRBAs) for residential property in SMSF.

Beyond SMSF, Bluestone said it believes that Australian Taxation Office debt is emerging as one of the biggest opportunities for brokers working with business clients under increasing financial pressure.

“Fundamentally, what we do is support customers that fall outside mainstream banking restrictions,” MacRae said.

“Last year was really about building towards that one-stop shop. We launched expat lending, small-ticket commercial lending and construction lending. We rarely tell brokers we don’t do something now.”
