The policy round-up: Lender changes at a glance 7–14 August

Following a busy week as the Reserve Bank of Australia made its fifth cash rate call of the year, lenders have been tweaking policy and launching partnerships. Here’s what you need to know.

The majority of this week’s changes revolved around tweaks to lending appetite, pre-approvals, and the hiking of fees, although one new white label partnership was also announced.

Bluestone joins LMG white label offering

Loan Market Group has added Bluestone Home Loans as its seventh white label lending partner, with the new Bluestone for LMG offering set to launch in September.

The offering will give LMG brokers access to Bluestone’s specialist lending policy for borrowers who sit outside standard lending criteria, including near-prime borrowers, self-employed clients with complex income, and customers with adverse credit histories.

AMP Bank increases home loan fees

AMP Bank will increase several home loan fees from 25 August 2026, including its discharge fee, which will rise from $390 to $490 when securities are discharged.

The annual package fee for AMP Bank’s Professional Package and Select Package will also increase from $349 to $415. The Equity Flex Loan Basic Package, Basic Package with Construction, and AMP First Home Loan will continue to have no annual package fee, subject to eligibility and product conditions.

Macquarie introduces fully assessed pre-approvals

Macquarie Bank has introduced fully assessed pre-approvals, providing brokers with an upfront credit decision for eligible home loan applications.

The lender has also cut variable home loan rates across all nodes, with the new rates applying to home loans formally approved from 31 July 2026.

New owner-occupier principal-and-interest rates start from 6.04 per cent, while investment principal-and-interest rates start from 6.14 per cent for eligible loans at up to 60 per cent LVR.

For interest-only lending, owner-occupier rates start from 6.04 per cent and investment rates from 6.24 per cent, with rates varying by product and LVR. Maximum LVRs are inclusive of any LMI or LDF capitalisation.

Beyond Bank resumes pre-approvals

After last year's suspension, Beyond Bank has resumed accepting pre-approval applications, with applications subject to a full credit assessment rather than a system-generated indication.

Pre-approvals are valid for 120 days, or 180 days for construction loans, with an eight-business-day assessment SLA once all required supporting documentation has been provided.

MQG Lending launches insurance referral hub

MQG Lending has launched ProtectQ, a new insurance referral hub giving brokers access to personal risk, general insurance, and private and commercial insurance solutions.

The offering brings together three referral partners: Merit Life for life, TPD and income protection; Howden Insurance for complex commercial risks, private clients and high-value assets; and Huddle for home and contents, motor and domestic travel insurance.

ProtectQ Risk Insurance and ProtectQ Private and Commercial Insurance are available now, with ProtectQ General Insurance to launch in the coming weeks.

Resimac expands credit policy

Resimac has made a series of policy changes across ATO debt, private and solicitor loan refinances, parental leave income, and Alt Doc verification.

Eligible Prime borrowers can now consolidate up to $200,000 of ATO debt at up to 80 per cent LVR, while eligible Specialist borrowers can retain existing ATO repayment arrangements.

The lender has also expanded private and solicitor loan refinancing to eligible Prime and Prime Alt Doc borrowers at up to 80 per cent LVR and will accept 100 per cent of eligible parental leave income.

For Alt Doc applications, an accountant’s declaration can now be used to verify self-employed income where the borrower has a combination of PAYG and self-employed income.
