Metro Finance loan book hits $6bn

Metro Finance has capped off the 2026 financial year by surpassing $6 billion in loan book value, as the non-bank lender continues to expand its presence in Australia’s asset finance market.

The milestone comes after a year of continued investment in technology, customer experience, and its workforce, with the lender having now provided more than $10 billion in lending to over 120,000 customers since launching in 2011.

Metro Finance CEO David Albest said the result reflected the strength of the lender’s business model and ongoing investment in its platform.

“This milestone reflects the strength of our business, the trust of our customers and introducer network, and the continued investment we’ve made in technology and our people,” Albest said.

“While we continue to invest in faster, smarter lending experiences, our people remain central to what makes Metro different. That balance of technology and human expertise continues to drive strong outcomes for our customers and partners.”

Chief financial officer Mark Donovan said demand had remained strong across Metro Finance’s core lending segments.

“We’ve continued to see demand across our key lending categories, supported by disciplined growth, investment in technology and a product offering that continues to evolve with customer needs,” Donovan said.

The result comes after Metro Finance was named the top asset and equipment finance lender in Agile Market Intelligence’s latest Third-Party Lending Report: Commercial Lending, with brokers ranking it highest in the category for its overall performance.

Metro Finance has also recently moved into the dealer finance market, marking a new phase of growth for the lender.

The expansion will see Metro offer its lending platform, technology, and finance solutions to a broader network of dealers across Australia, as it looks to diversify both its lending portfolio and distribution channels.
